    Forum News

Howdy everyone. Over the past nine days Woody has gained yet again a new member. Growth is slow but still it grows. There have been 234 posts in total, made in the forum making that a further 81 post made during the past nine days. A great effort I believe for such a small group. During that time there has been three new pieces of work added. That of Skygazzer’s (Metal Boy) displayed with the photos to the side of the blog entry and also, myself (Sketchart26), of a ”Gothic House” and what is now known as “Rajonus” a Base Relief which is being done as what we artist call a WIP (Work In Progress). See a glimpse below.

    Completion of set up

The last thing require in the set up of “Woody Art and Things” was to write up those much need rules, design a home page, add in some work to kick things off, begin to create conversations in let’s talk, add in some useful demonstrations and last but not lest start to build a glossary of terms.

    Administration

    Administration

My next step was to consider the fact that I can’t always be present to maintain the forum such time the forum grows.

So I needed to consider who would be a good choice to do such a job. I believe I choice two people that can not only do the job and well, but whom I believe will always be considerate of others and proactive in the forum.  I also believe the two people I have chosen will do their very best at all times to be helpful to each and ever member of the forum.

First their is Julz my daughter. Now Julz is only 14 years of age but  has been part of other forums for as long as myself and is very aware of some of the issues that could and often do arise within forums. To be sure Julz was ready for such a role, I also had Julz help me set up the forum, so she is well equipped to do such a job. A big thank you to you Julz for doing such a fine job

The other person is Jane a dear friend of mind that I meet in another forum for painting. Jane runs the sister site to this forum “Art’s, Crafts & Gardening Forum” and knows more than myself when comes to the operations of forums. In fact Jane is the brain behind the design of the logo for “Woody Art and Things” and she also played a big role in helping with those wonderful glowing Admin, Super Mods, Moderators and Member group keys that you see, along with setting up Meter tags and all sorts of things. So a very big thank you to Jane from me. Without her these things would not have been passable.

So I feel very comfortable with my choice for admin in “Woody Art and Thing” and I known they will both do a great job and and look forward to working with them to hopeful create a very friendly and enjoyable forum for all.

This then gave me the direction to move in with the forum.

    In The Beginning

    In The Beginning

Woody Art and Things was first created on Saturday the 2nd of February 2008 as a result of my own interest in pyrography, sculpting, carving and wood work. When I first took up these art forms, I went on a search to find a forum where I could become a member of and share my work with others that shared a common interest. As a result of my search I discovered that there were very few options available for myself or people like me that enjoy these art forms.

As many of you would know one of the greatest things about art, is being able to share the wonderful work which is created by yourself and others, but equally as important is having a place where you can feel safe to share your ideas and learn from others about both new and old techniques or even develop a few of your own along the way.

It is for this very reason I felt Woody Art and Things was needed.
